Chapter 7 Page 221, paragraph 4: Delete last line about Microsoft Kerberos Page 222, paragraph 2: Replace sentence with Microsoft URL with: "There's a lot of interest in CIFS and there have been several IETF Internet drafts issued, some of which have expired. See http://ubiqx.org/cifs for some more current information." Page 222, paragraph 3: Remove "a" from "in a NetBIOS" Page 238, immediately after the section titled "Broadcast forwarding" and before the section titled "Installing the Samba Software," add the following: NOTE: There is a browse bug with Windows 2000 clients that shows up with Samba servers, documented in Microsoft Knowledgebase article Q245800. This problem can be fixed with a Registry change as follows: Run regedt32 Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/Remote Computer/NameSpace Select the key {D6277990-4C6A-11CF--8D87-00AA0060F5BF} and delete it Close the Registry editor and test. The change takes effect immediately. Page 246, paragraph 4: The sentence, "To support encryption, the Samba server must be recompiled..." was only true for older 1.X versions of Samba. Current versions do not have to be recompiled to support encryption. However, there are data-loss problems with Windows 2K and Samba for all of the older Samba versions, so it's mandatory to download and compile the current Samba version on the FreeBSD server.
